  Alternative pets?

  well, i don't have the most active or exciting life, so i've been thinking about getting a pet to liven things up a little around the homestead.

  dogs?

  too much commitment, also high ownership expenses.

  Don't give up on the idea of owning a cat, just because you're a guy. I've known guys who where more buff and more "man" than most out there....and they owned cats. It really touched me to see how caring they were to these soft, furry little creatures. To see a man being so gentle is awesome!

  I personally own a cat and I love coming home to him. He's always waiting by the door when I get home waiting to be petted. I like the thought that he is independent too, like myself. He's an indoor cat who has never been outside and he's also declawed (sorry if some don't agree with cats being declawed), so I feel pretty good that he's as clean as they come.

  i am currently a jw but am having a bit of difficulty with it at the moment.

  i have always been a bit 'badly inclined' i got married at the tender age of 17 (crazy!

  ) to a bit of a rebel (a jw but a rebel all the same!

  Nowisee,

  That's exactly the feeling I'm talking about. It really makes me sad to think of people having to live so unhappily. Children grow up believing that it is normal way to feel this way....hell, even children that are abused will stick up for Mom and Dad. It's just not healthy.

  Ecstasy use makes people depressed for life?

  i know some of you have played around with ecstasy.

  there are some good comments by people at the end of the article as to what they think of this research.

  one of the men i work with used a lot of ecstasy in college and he is not depressed whatsoever.

  it's been 7 years since our divorce was final and every now and then my ex-wife will call and tell what she's up to and how she's doing ect.

  ect.

  ( it's usually a tale of whoa ) anyway i find it kind of hilarious.

  When you could look around yourself with a feeling of warmth, and say "LIFE IS GOOD!".

  JW's will always be waiting for the "new system". They are not satisfied with their life as it is now...they are forever waiting for something better. They are not able to truely feel that "LIFE IS GOOD".

  Take it as a compliment that she feels she could still communicate with you. You must have touched her in a special way during the 7 years you two were married to each other.

  You were a part of her life story during the seven years you were married....that's a good chunk of time. It's not easy to just turn your back on time like that. Because she calls doesn't necessarily mean she has romantic feelings towards you. Maybe it's just nostalgia, or maybe you are just a good friend.....somebody she could talk to. She must not hate you. Even if she did meet Joe Wonderful, you were an important part of her life. You havn't asked her not to call, have you? Then she will keep calling if you allow her to.

  If my Ex wouldn't detest me so much, I could easily carry a conversation with him. I don't hate him, but the problem is that the feeling isn't mutual. He hates that I divorced him. He can't even look me in the eye when he picks our kids up for his weekend with them. There are time I wish I could talk to him about everyday life.

  Personally, I'd rather be in control of my own life. I want to make my own mistakes, and my own triumphs. I observe what goes on around me, but I like to make the final choices based on my observations and experiences.

  I hope I don't sound too harsh, but I speak from experience. What if there is verbal abuse in the marriage? Children do not always know this is going on, if the parents are wise enough not to express this type of behavior in front of their children. Children think mommy and daddy are happy, but they don't know that mommy is dying inside...her sprit is being shattered. This will make their mother a "zombie", and impossible for a mother to function in a normal, healthy way. Children do not deserve a zombie for a mother. They deserve to live in a positive and happy environment, with peace. If there is no love between their parents, I just don't see how this could be. This goes for households where there is no abuse.....there is still no love. Without love, there can't be harmony. There is constant discontent and sadness.

  Children pick up on the vibes that are present in the household and the marriage. They feel what's going on, even if they don't witness the disharmony. I strongly believe this is not fair to the children. They much rather see their mom and dad happy, even if it means the parents live in different homes. The parent's attitude has a lot to do with the happiness and well being of the children.

  I just can't agree with "stay for the children's sake".
